Full description from the funder
Next cycle not yet posted. Statewide rounds roughly every two years (2025 round opened July 14, 2025; draft applications due September 5, 2025; final applications due October 31, 2025; awards Spring 2026). Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission runs a separate regional round June-September. The last published deadline was October 31, 2025. Federal-aid funding administered by PennDOT for pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, trails and Safe Routes to School projects; school districts, local education agencies and schools may apply for SRTS infrastructure (sidewalks, crosswalks, signals) and non-infrastructure (safety education) projects.
Page states 'There is a minimum award of $50,000 for construction projects.' and 'There is a maximum award of $1,500,000, although higher awards can be justified for "exceptional" projects.' The companion Safe Routes to School page (https://www.pa.gov/agencies/penndot/research-planning-and-innovation/transportation-alternatives-set-aside-program/safe-routes-to-school) lists 'School districts, local education agencies, or schools' as eligible and defers deadlines to the TASA page. Requires a draft application and meeting before final submission; application portal at gis.penndot.pa.gov/tasa requires PDAuth registration.
The TASA page is very large (1.5 MB) with award lists back to 2016; 2026 awards include Central Cambria SD, Old Forge SD and City of York SRTS projects. Next round date not posted as of 2026-10-11.
